Lebanon, TN - Carol Hofer, age 79, of Lebanon TN, passed away on June 6, 2026. The Funeral Service is 5 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon, TN. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4 p.m. until the service at 5 p.m. Carol will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery in Springfield, Ohio. The family will be receiving friends at the cemetery chapel for this second service in Ohio, on Monday, June 15, 2026, 12pm to 2pm.

Carol Walters Hofer was born in Springfield, OH on September 20, 1946, to Sarah Rebecca Smith Walters and Junior Edward Walters. She received a bachelor's in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Texas at Dallas. Genealogy was a great interest of hers. She was a long-time member of the Genealogy Friends of Plano, Texas, and travelled several times to Salt Lake City in pursuit of information about her family history.

She married Dan Hofer and she set upon creating her own family story. Carol took being a homemaker seriously, raising her family became her main focus. Carol travelled all over the world, including Egypt, Greece, Portugal, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, and Hawaii, although her favorite places were Italy and France. Ancient architecture and art were of particular interest, keeping her in museums for hours. Art was also a pursuit though she never called herself an artist. She most recently took a watercolor painting class. Crochet, sewing, and reading were fulfilling hobbies. Carol was a member of the Wilson County Master Gardener Association.

Carol is survived by children Timothy Hofer and Amanda Hofer; siblings: Virginia (Richard) Spencer, Pamela Walters, Jim (Debi) Walters, and Marilyn Conover (Bob Durst); and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Dan Hofer, and parents Sarah and Junior Walters.
