Santa Fe, Tennessee - Charles Fred McCord, age 86, husband of Daisy Potts McCord, and a resident of Fly Road in Santa Fe, Tennessee, passed away on Monday morning, December 1, 2025, at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at Heritage Funeral Home with Brian Adkisson officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Potts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM and again on Saturday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 17, 1939, in Hickman County, Tennessee, Fred was the son of the late Jerome Thomas and Estelle Hooper McCord. On August 14, 1965, he married the love of his life, Daisy, and together they shared sixty wonderful years.

Fred began working immediately after completing the eighth grade to help provide for himself and his family. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. For many years he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Industrial Contractors, retiring in 2000. He was also a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 369.

In his younger years, Fred enjoyed watching NASCAR, attending mule pullings, and riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed doing word puzzles with his wife, Daisy, and his greatest joy was his grandson, Charles Andrew Lewis. He was an easy-going man who would do anything for anybody and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Drew) Lewis; sister, Sandra Wright; grandson, Charles Andrew Lewis; sisters-in-law, Shirley McCord, Vera McCord, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Freda Mae McCord; siblings, Ruth Allen, Raymond McCord, Leon McCord, Lucille McCord, J.C. McCord, Jerome McCord, Jr., Herschel McCord, Mildred Malugin, infant brother, Carl McCord; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill Wright, JW Allen, Dot McCord, Viola McCord, and Leonard Malugin.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Andrew Lewis, Cody Slaughter, Chris Webb, Kenneth Webb, Bobby Potts, and Harold Malugin. Honorary pallbearers will include his coworkers at Industrial Contractors and his friends at Potts Sawmill.
