Harold Harper Hackett Obituary

Mt. Juliet, Tennessee - Harold Harper Hackett passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on January 20, 1935, in Smith County, Tennessee.


Harold was a lifelong member of Laguardo Baptist Church. After completing his education at Lebanon High School, he served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1963. In 1997, Harold retired from Overnight Transportation after 34 years. His work ethic and dedication were well-known to his colleagues and friends.


In his free time, Harold enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and was fond of playing cards with friends. Every morning, he could be found at Hardee's, enjoying breakfast and sharing stories.


Harold leaves behind a legacy of family, friendship and fun. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.


Harold is survived by Martha Smith Hackett, loving wife of 65 years; children: Wayne (Belinda) Hackett, Jeff (Sherry) Hackett, Kim (Kevin) Kolff; grandchildren: Bailey Kolff, Brady Kolff, Amber McKee (Justin Humphrey), Jessica Hackett, Meghann (Michael) Moran, Christy Hammonds, Leslie Strum, Ryan Kennedy; great-grandchildren: Josh, Jordan, Jasmine, Colton, Grace, and Emma.


Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus "Buck" and Mary (Harper) Hackett.


A funeral service for Harold will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Bond Memorial Chapel, conducted by Johnathan Jennings, with interment to follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens. The family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 13th, 2026.
