Lewis Henry Hines Jr. Obituary

Lebanon, Tennessee - Lewis Henry Hines, Jr., a devoted mechanic and beloved family man, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on March 7, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on December 5, 1952, in Portland, Tennessee, he dedicated many years of his life to his career as a mechanic for Peterbilt until the company closed its doors.

Known affectionately as "Jr" among his coworkers, Lewis was admired not only for his mechanical skills but also for his big heart and compassionate nature. He was a man who treasured family gatherings and holidays, always cherishing the time spent with his loved ones. His love for his family and friends was evident in his generous spirit, and he was known for his sentimental gestures towards those he cared for.

Lewis had a profound appreciation for the outdoors, finding joy in being on the water, especially at Old Hickory Lake, where he loved to fish and boat. He also enjoyed the thrill of bird hunting alongside his brother-in-law, creating cherished memories in the process. Gardening was another passion of his; he delighted in planting trees, tulips, and buttercups, bringing beauty to the world around him.

He leaves behind his loving sisters, Lenne Ann Smith (Warren), Reba Handshoe (Sammy), and Danna Avery (Ken). Lewis will also be missed by his nieces, Chastity Harrison (Kevin), Haley Abbott (Jacob), Brittney Eddy (Jesse), and Ashley Gregory Tuggle; his nephews, Joseph Handshoe (Ryan), Keith Handshoe (Tiffany), and Adrian Gregory (Megan); and his sister-in-law, Teresa Hines Flynn (William Bullard Flynn). He held his cousins dear to his heart.

Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Henry Hines Sr.; mother, Lennie G. (Hall) Hines; brother, Kenneth Hines; and sister, Betty (Hines) Gregory.

A visitation will be held in his honor on March 12, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM, all taking place at Alexander Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Gallatin, Tennessee.
